BENGALURU: Indian Railways is transforming its ticketing system with the introduction of a Unified Ticketing System (UTS) on its mobile app, emphasising cashless transactions, contactless ticketing, and customer convenience. These features ensure a smooth and hassle-free booking experience for passengers, marking a significant leap in railway ticketing convenience, according to a release.
One of the most significant updates in the UTS mobile application is the withdrawal of distance restrictions for booking both journey and platform tickets. This move opens up a world of possibilities for passengers, allowing them to book tickets without the constraints of geographical limitations.
The popularity of the UTS mobile app speaks for itself. In April 2023, an average of 5,301 tickets were sold daily. And in April 2024, that number will jump to 9,388 tickets per day. This surge in usage is a testament to the convenience and efficiency of the UTS platform.
One standout feature of the UTS on Mobile app is the 3% bonus offered to users. When recharging their R-Wallet for unreserved ticket bookings through the app, passengers receive a 3% bonus. This extra incentive makes the travel experience even more rewarding for passengers.
To make payments even easier, the UTS on Mobile app now integrates with UPI apps within the payment aggregator section. This integration streamlines the payment process, allowing passengers to complete transactions seamlessly using their preferred UPI app.
For added convenience, QR codes are now available on ATVMs. Passengers can simply scan the QR code with their Android or iOS device, download the UTS app, and start booking tickets using their R-Wallet. This seamless integration of technology ensures a hassle-free ticketing experience for all passengers, the release added.
