HYDERABAD: The leopard, which was spotted on the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) premises on Saturday, resurfaced on Sunday again, sending panic waves.
As the leopard is believed to be residing on the airport premises, forest officials placed another cage on Monday apart from the two already kept, besides camera traps. An animal rescue vehicle and team are on standby.
According to forest officials, “the leopard is still on the airport premises. Only by scaling a seven-foot-high wall could it escape from the area. Such an action has not come to our attention. Due to the dry earth in the absence of rain, there are no visible paw prints of the leopard. However, the area is under surveillance via camera traps.”
They cautioned nearby residents not to venture out in the early and late hours.
The leopard was first spotted around 12 am to 3 am on the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday. The RGIA personnel, based on camera footage of the predator, alerted the forest department, which soon swung into action.
