NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has been appointed as the National Ambassador for Unicef India on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in her association with the organisation.
The 43-year-old actor, who initially joined Unicef India as its ‘Celebrity Advocate’ in 2014, was visibly moved during the appointment ceremony, where she delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing her deep appreciation and unwavering dedication to advocating for the rights of children.
On May 4, Kareena took to Instagram to express her sincere emotions regarding her new role. She reminisced about her enriching and insightful ten-year journey with Unicef India, expressing her pride in the collaborative work achieved throughout this period. Acknowledging the devoted team working tirelessly for women’s and children’s rights throughout the country, she reaffirmed her commitment to the cause.
She conveyed her enthusiasm to further collaborate with Unicef India, emphasizing the significance of continuous initiatives to secure a fair future for every child.
Kareena, in her capacity as the National Ambassador, pledged to leverage her platform to advocate for vulnerable children, with a special focus on issues such as early childhood development, education, and gender equality.
