AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad during the third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister reached the polling station around 7:30 am. Union Minister Amit Shah welcomed him, and the two leaders walked to the booth. A large crowd that had gathered to have a glimpse of Modi raised “Modi…Modi…” slogans. As Modi made his way to the booth, he graciously autographed a portrait that a supporter had drawn of the Prime Minister.

After casting his vote, the Prime Minister urged the citizens of the country to cast their votes in large numbers since it holds a lot of significance in a democracy. “In a democracy, ‘MatDaan’ is not a routine exercise. There is great importance of ‘daan’ in our country, and in the same spirit, the countrymen should vote as much as possible. Today marks the third phase of the Lok Sabha election in 2024. Four rounds of voting are still ahead,” he said.

World’s biggest universities should do a case study on India’s mammoth polls: PM

“The elections are held in 64 countries, and there should be a comparison of all of them. India’s electoral process and management serve as exemplary models for democracies worldwide to emulate. The world’s biggest universities should do a case study on the same,” the PM said.

Modi further said: “As a voter in Gujarat, this is the only place where I vote regularly, and Amit Bhai is contesting from here as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. Last night, I arrived here from Andhra. I am here in Gujarat, and then I have to go to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana too. I won’t be able to speak much, but I want to thank the Gujarat voters and countrymen who cast their votes with great enthusiasm.”

The PM told mediapersons present there: “Take care of your health and drink a lot of water.”

Home Minister Amit Shah, who is contesting from Gandhinagar, cast his vote later in the day along with his family.

Voting is underway in 93 constituencies across 10 states and a Union Territory today in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
