In a bid to boost tourism and its economy, the Thailand government has extended its visa exemption programme for tourists from India and Taiwan for another six months. The decision will enable tourists from India and Taiwan to enter the Southeast Asian nation without a visa until November 11.

The cabinet gave its green signal for extending visa exemption. The move aims to attract more tourists from these countries to boost the tourism-driven economy.

Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said visitors from these nations could enter Thailand without a visa until November 11.

The decision to prolong the visa exemption programme comes after the success of the initial waiver granted in November 2023. Previously, Indian and Taiwanese tourists were granted a 15-day stay under a visa-on-arrival scheme, but they will now benefit from an extended visa-free entry period.

Thailand is more than just a popular vacation spot for Indians; it is also a practical option due to its close proximity and affordability. Thailand’s irresistible allure lies in its delectable street food, captivating ancient temples, and breathtaking pristine beaches, creating an indelible experience that entices Indian tourists to revisit time and again.
