DHARWAD: Janata Shikshana Samiti’s Banashankari Arts and Commerce and S K Gubbli Science College, Dharwad, has clinched the Karnatak University I Zone Men’s Inter-Collegiate Volleyball title.
In the final played at the KE Board’s First Grade Arts and Commerce College Ground here on Saturday, JSS College, aided by brilliant displays from Pranav Jogi, Rahul and Manoj, pipped Karnataka Arts College, Dharwad, 25-20, 19-25, 15-10. Shrinivas Chavali, Basavaraj, and Raju Gowli played well for the losers.
Earlier in the semi final matches, JSS College ousted KUD BEd College in straight games 25-16, 25-19, while Karnataka Arts College struggled to beat hosts KE Board’s First Grade College 25-16, 25-20.
Just before the finals on Saturday, KUD BEd College overcame fighting KE Board’s First Grade Arts and Commerce College 15-10, 19-17 to secure third place.

Karnataka Education Board’s honarary secretary, D. S. Rajapurohit, handed over the trophies to the winners in the concluding function. The college’s governing council chairman, Dr. Sunit Purohit, presided over the function. Board’s Sports Development Officer Vasant Murdeshwar, Principal of the host college Prof. M. A. Siddhanti, Vidya Jamkhandi, Basavaraj Udikeri, organising secretary Anand Yaligar, NSS Coordinator Ishwar Rao Karat, Jinappa Kundagol, Bahubali Chougala, Dr. Manjunath Asundi, and others were present.
