DELHI: Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, flagged off the National Cadet Corps (NCC) boys and girls mountaineering expedition to Mount Kang Yatse-II peak on Tuesday.
The team consists of five officers, 17 permanent instructors, and 24 cadets (12 boys and 12 girls) from different NCC directorates. The team will attempt to scale Mount Kang Yatse-II by the end of June 2024.

The DG NCC wished success to the team and emphasised the crucial role of the NCC in fostering youth development, as well as the various opportunities available for cadets to participate in a wide range of adventure activities.
He motivated the cadets to confront the challenges of the expedition with calmness, bravery, expertise, and an unbeatable determination.


The peak is located in the Ladakh region at an altitude of 6,250 m/20,505 ft. This marks the 87th NCC Cadets mountaineering expedition conducted since 1970, according to the Ministry of Defence.
