Jawahar Sports Club (1) emerge U-16 cricket champions

U-16 cricket champions Jawahar Sports Club (1), Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Aided by deadly leg spin bowling by Tarun Balamurugan and Sampathkumar H Bevoor, Jawahar Sports Club (1), Bengaluru, pipped Bangalore Sports Club by 20 runs to emerge as champions in the KSCA Under-16 Inter-club Cricket Tournament for 2024–25.

Required to score a moderate 147 for the win at the RSI Ground here on Sunday, Bangalore SC started on a flying note, reaching 66 without loss in 18 overs. When it looked all over for the Jawahar SC, the two leg spinners turned the tables. Tarun Balamurugan grabbed 4 for 30 in his 10 overs, while ‘Dharwad lad’ Sampathkumar H. Bevoor picked up 3 for 19 in his 5.4 overs to reduce the opponents to 126 in 38.4 overs.

Dharwad lad Sampath Kumar Bevoor, who grabbed 14 wickets in 6 matches, gets a special prize from Raghavendra Rao.

Earlier, Jawahar SC, too, saw an unexpected collapse and were bundled out for 146 in 44.5 overs. H. D. Prajwal Gowda (46, 55 balls, 5 fours) was their top scorer.

Earlier in the semi final matches, Jawahar SC (1) defeated Vijaya CC by 6 wickets, while Bangalore SC overcame fighting Swastik Union Cricket Club (2) by 3 wickets.
