BJP candidate from Moradabad LS seat Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar passes away a day after polls

LUCKNOW: BJP leader and party candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, who was unwell for some time, died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi at around 6.30 pm on Saturday.
Sarvesh Kumar was among the 12 candidates in the fray from Moradabad constituency, which went to polls in the first phase on April 19. He did not participate in his election campaigns due to ill health.
Kumar (72) is survived by his wife, Sadhna Singh, a son, and a daughter.
UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary, while announcing his death, said, “He had some problems in his throat and had an operation. He had gone to AIIMS for a check-up yesterday.”
He was the Lok Sabha member from Moradabad from 2014 to 2019. However, he was defeated by SP’s ST Hasan in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Kumar has also been a five-time (from 1991 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2014) BJP MLA from the Thakurdwara assembly seat in Moradabad.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to social media and extended his condolences. “I am shocked by the demise of the BJP candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency and former MP Kunwar Sarvesh Singh ji. This is an irreparable loss for the BJP family. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Ram to give a place for the departed soul in his feet and provide strength to the bereaved family and their supporters to bear this loss. Om Shanti,” Adityanath wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
