6 killed, over 20 injured as speeding truck collides with bus in UP

UNNAO: Six people were killed and 20 others were injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a bus here on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The bus driver fled the scene after the accident, while the truck driver has been arrested. The accident took place near Jamaldipur village on the Hardoi-Unnao road in the Safipur police station limits. There were 35 passengers in the bus, they said.

Doctors at the community health centre in Safipur referred the injured persons to the district hospitals in Unnao and in Kanpur.

Of the 20 injured persons, 11 were taken to a hospital in Kanpur, while nine others have been admitted to the Unnao district hospital.
Those who sustained minor injuries were discharged after being given first aid, police added.
