SRINAGAR: Amid inclement weather, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on Sunday issued an avalanche warning in the higher reaches of four districts of the Kashmir valley for the next 24 hours.

According to officials, an avalanche of medium danger level is likely to hit at 3,000 metres above sea level in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara of northern Kashmir and Ganderbal district of central Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

People living in these areas have been advised not to venture into the avalanche-prone areas and to take precautionary measures until further notice. They have also been asked to reach out to the helpline number 112 in case of emergency.

Incessant rains that have been lashing Kashmir in the past few days and mild snowfall reported in some higher ranges have prompted authorities to issue a fresh avalanche warning.
