SRINAGAR: Cautioning people to stay away from the Congress, BJP Jammu and Kashmir chief Ravinder Raina said on Sunday that his party will extend support to like-minded parties in Kashmir in this Lok Sabha election.

According to agencies, he said the BJP is looking forward to extending its support to good candidates after discussing the formalities with their party leaders.”

“There are many parties that are very compassionate with the people. We will talk to our workers, and the outcome will be announced soon,” he said, expressing hope that the BJP will win big on both Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats.

On the BJP’s demand to defer the elections in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat, Raina said a decision in this regard has to be taken by the Election Commission of India (ECI). “There is only one road (the Mughal Road) that connects Anantnag in Kashmir with  Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu. But it remains closed due to inclement weather and snowfall,” he said.

“The ECI has sought a report in this regard from the Jammu and Kashmir government, and I am looking forward to the ECI’s decision,” he added.
