SRINAGAR: The All India Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India, in association with the Department of Tourism, organised a conclave at Hotel Radisson here on Saturday to promote tourism in the valley.
Addressing the conclave, Director of Tourism, Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob, said: “Kashmir is already a brand. It is an attractive destination. We need more promotion here. Today’s conclave has many investors. It will go a long way in sending a message that Kashmir is open for investment and people are welcome to the valley. Apart from the landscape and crafts, it has a rich culture and heritage. The Kashmiri food is world-class. This conclave is aimed at promoting tourism here.”

He further said that the Tourism Department will hold a tourism development conference soon. “We will invite stakeholders from across the country. We are also planning an ambassadors’ meet. Tourism is one of the mainstays of the economy. The success of the G-20 Summit had a direct impact on foreign tourism. In the last four months, there has been 61 per cent growth in foreign tourism,” Yaqoob said.
The conclave served as a crucial platform for stakeholders to chalk out strategies to revive and promote tourism in the region, which was hit by militancy.
The conclave featured insightful discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions focusing on highlighting the unparalleled beauty, cultural richness, and hospitality of Kashmir. It concluded with the formulation of actionable strategies and recommendations to address the challenges and capitalise on the immense potential of Kashmir as a tourism hotspot.
