DUBAI: The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, a leading global travel and tourism event, kicked off in Dubai, UAE, on May 6, with a substantial presence from India.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), chairman of Dubai Airports, and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, inaugurated the event at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Sheikh Ahmed said that the massive interest shown by the participants in ATM 2024 confirms Dubai’s position as a prominent hub for tourism and travel in the region. This further underscores its pivotal role in shaping the future of the industry by uniting leaders from various allied sectors worldwide.

Ahmed toured various pavilions at the exhibition. He was accompanied by Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Director General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism Hilal Saeed Al Marri, Director of the Arabian Travel Market in the Middle East Danielle Curtis, and several top officials and leaders representing the travel and tourism industry at the regional and global levels.

The theme of ATM 2024 is ‘Empowering Innovation: Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship’, spotlighting visionary entrepreneurs in aviation, hotels, hospitality, and public attractions, and underscoring their transformative role in the future of the sector.

ATM 2024 is part of Arabian Travel Week, a 10-day-long festival of travel and tourism events that takes place in Dubai. In addition to ATM, other events that are part of Travel Week include the ATM Start-up Competition, ATM Travel Tech, GBTA Business Travel Forums, and Buyer Networking.

About ATM

The Arabian Travel Market was launched in 1994 with 300 exhibitors and 7,000 trade visitors. The event takes place every year in Dubai with the aim of serving as a networking platform for tourism professionals from both inbound and outbound sectors in the Middle East. It offers insights on various tourism destinations, accommodation choices, tourist attractions, and the aviation industry within the region and globally.

The event has solidified its position as a globally recognised event, integrating all travel sectors and verticals, from MICE to leisure and luxury hospitality to corporate travel.

According to the organisers, ATM 2024 will mark the event’s largest to date, with the participation of 2,300 exhibitors from 165 countries and around 41,000 visitors. Exhibitor participation has increased by 26 per cent this year, with growth recorded across all event verticals.

Satish Kumar Sivan, Counsel General of India to Dubai, inaugurated the ‘Incredible India’ pavilion on Monday. The pavilion has made a resounding entry, aiming to capture the entirety of the UAE market.

Leading a delegation comprising tour operators, luxury hotels, wellness resorts, and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, India is poised to showcase itself as a 365-day destination.

The digital campaign ‘Cool Summers of India’ challenges the notion of India being too hot for summer travel, emphasising its offerings in hill resorts, including the Himalayas. The campaign seeks to promote India as a holistic destination throughout the year.

India’s participation in the Arabian Travel Mart 2024 holds immense potential for the tourism industry and the economy as a whole.

The event offers a platform for Indian tourism stakeholders to showcase their products and services, establish partnerships within the sector, and entice tourists from the MENA region. This, in turn, is expected to bolster revenue generation and foster job creation within the tourism sector.
