Former Karnataka CM S M Krishna in ICU, critical

The veteran leader is battling an acute respiratory tract infection

BENGALURU: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, popularily known as S M Krishna, has been to the Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road here on Saturday. He continues to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is being treated by a critical care team.

The consition of 92-year-old former external affairs minister is reportedly critical. The veteran leader was admited to the hospital on April 29 with complaints of acute respiratory tract infection.

“Shri S M Krishna, admitted to ICU Manipal Hospital, continues to be in ICU and is on adequate support. He is being treated by Dr Satyanarayana Mysore and a critical care team led by Dr Sunil Karanth,” according to a hospital statement.

Krishna had also served as the Maharashtra Governor and Karnataka Assembly Speaker.
