DELHI: The successful completion of training for the Air Force Special Forces ‘Garud’ Commandos was commemorated with a Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade held at the Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC), Air Force Station, Chandinagar.
Air Marshal P K Vohra, Senior Air Staff Officer, Western Air Command, was the reviewing officer for the parade. He extended his congratulations to the ‘Garuds’ for their successful completion of training. The Ministry of Defence statement highlighted his emphasis on the significance of rigorous training and the refinement of special forces skills in order to adapt to the evolving security landscape.

Vohra awarded Maroon Beret, the Garud Proficiency Badge, and Special Forces Tabs to the Garud trainees who successfully completed their training, while also distributing trophies to those who excelled. Flight Lieutenant Shashwat Rana was honored with the best all-rounder trophy.


During the ceremony, the Garuds showcased their expertise in combat firing, hostage rescue, firing drills, assault explosives, obstacle crossing drills, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts.


These recently graduated trainees join the esteemed Garud force, enhancing the operational prowess of the IAF.
The Maroon Beret Cereonial Parade holds great importance as it signifies the completion of a rigorous training programme.
