NEW DELHI: Narendra Modi is poised to make history by becoming the second individual, following former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, to be elected as the Prime Minister for three consecutive terms. The official swearing-in ceremony for Modi will be held on Sunday (June 9) at 7:15 pm.

President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers. Members of his council of ministers will be sworn in alongside PM Modi during the ceremony.

Given that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is falling short of a majority on its own this time, there are chances for a larger number of leaders from allies, including Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United, to be seen in the council, as compared to the previous term.

Who all are attending PM’s swearing-in ceremony?

Numerous heads of state from neighboring countries and various nations are set to participate in Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Among those present in Delhi for the event are: President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Vice-President Ahmed Afif of the Seychelles, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Nepal, and Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius.

National capital under security blanket

The security across the capital city has been beefed up due to the presence of numerous dignitaries. Rashtrapati Bhawan will be under three-tier security until June 11. The Delhi-NCT area has been designated as a no-fly zone to prevent the operation of drones and other similar devices.
