Rain batters Bengaluru, leave trail of waterlogged roads, uprooted trees

Tree branches fell on vehicles and shops at Muninanjappa Layout at Dinnur in RT Nagar of Bengaluru on Sunday night | Sheeja Vidyapathi

BENGALURU: Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds that lashed Bengaluru on Sunday evening wreaked havoc. Many trees were uprooted, which threw vehicular traffic out of gear and snapped the power supply.

Rainwater from open drains entered many areas, flooding roads and underpasses. Cantonment Railway Station, Jayamahal Road, Mehkri Circle, Hebbal, Kavalbyrasandra, and KHB Main Road were badly hit. Waterlogging was reported in many areas of the city.

Tree branches fell on vehicles and shops at Muninanjappa Layout in Dinnur of RT Nagar, triggering panic waves among residents nearby. Traffic on the road was disrupted for nearly an hour until personnel of the department concerned cleared off the road.
