Terrorists’ plan to shift focus to Jammu will not succeed: Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh visits injured Om Prakash in the Kathua Hospital

DELHI: The terrorists, feeling desperate due to the mounting pressure from security forces in the Kashmir valley, are currently fleeing and attempting to redirect their activities towards the Jammu region. However, their plan to shift the focus to Jammu will ultimately prove unsuccessful, said Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting the injured civilian Om Prakash, who underwent a successful orthopaedic surgery at GMC Hospital in Kathua, Jammu, and after paying condolences to the family members of the late Kamaljeet Sharma on Thursday.

Singh, who also serves as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, and MoS Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, highlights the fundamental distinction that the perpetrators of terrorism from neighboring countries fail to comprehend. They will never gain the backing of the local population in this region, as they mistakenly anticipate.

The entire area, including the Hiranagar sector where this event occurred, is populated by individuals who are deeply devoted to their nation and display strong patriotism. The terrorists will never get the backing of the local population in this region as they mistakenly anticipate

The entire area, including the Hiranagar sector where this event occurred, is populated by individuals who are deeply devoted to their nation and display strong patriotism. This was clearly evident during the recent incident, as the civilians not only provided crucial information about the suspected terrorists’ activities but also actively assisted the security forces in apprehending the hidden terrorists, he said.

As the birthplace of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, the people of this area have long fought against anti-national elements in various ways, he said.

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that it is crucial for terrorists and their supporters to comprehend that any attempt to spread anti-India terrorism in this region will not only backfire on them but also impart a fitting lesson.

Singh said that Prime Minister Modi’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism serves as the fundamental principle guiding the government’s approach. He further stated that these incidents also signify that terrorism is nearing its final stage, leaving terrorists perplexed and devoid of options.

Unlike previous governments, the Modi government has demonstrated its capacity to execute precise and timely actions, as evidenced by the surgical strike and other proactive operations conducted in the past ten years. These operations have played a significant role in restoring peace and normalcy in the Kashmir Valley, the minister said.

Commending the collaboration between the civil administration and security forces, he said: “Certain important suggestions have been received today from the security experts, which will be placed before the authorities concerned and could potentially act as an additional deterrent against future terrorist activities.”

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that efforts are underway to revitalize and enhance the effectiveness of the Village Defence Groups (VDGs). He mentioned that security posts will be established in the necessary locations.

Dr. Jitendra Singh assured the grieving family of Amarjeet Sharma that they would receive an exceptional level of support, aid, and assistance, surpassing the usual expectations following such tragic incidents.

Furthermore, he mentioned that he, along with his supporters and the entire BJP team, will assume the responsibility of caring for the family members of the deceased and guaranteeing the uninterrupted education of their children. He stated that a plan is being considered to offer a nursing position to a qualified family member with the intention of providing support to other members as well.

Singh commended the administration and medical team at GMC Kathua for their prompt and effective orthopaedic surgery on Om Prakash’s left humerus, ensuring his safety.
