HYDERABAD: Six people died and 20 others sustained injuries in a deadly blast that took place at a glass-making factory at Shadnagar in Ranga Reddy district here on Friday evening.

The deceased are migrant workers from Bihar, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. They have been identified as Roshan (36), Ramprakash (45), Chittaranjan (25), and Rao Kant (25). The identities of the two are yet to be asserted.

The incident took place when the workers were engaged in a routine check of the durability of glasses in a gas chamber at South Glass Private Limited in the Burugulla industrial area of Farooq Nagar in Shadnagar.

The explosion, which led to a massive fire, is believed to have been caused by the gas pressure within the compressor furnace.
