Shivamogga Zone is all set to conduct Inter-Zonal Cricket tournament for women in August

DHARWAD: The dream of hundreds of young and talented women cricketers to represent their state and country, and to make a name like Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana, is to be fulfilled soon.

Reliable sources have confirmed that the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) Shivamogga zone is all set to conduct an inter-zonal cricket tournament for moffusil women in August.

> The tournament will be open to the six moffusil zone teams, namely Dharwad, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Raichur, Tumakuru, and hosts Shivamogga.

> The organisers have decided to keep the Bengaluru women out of this competition with the intention of providing opportunities for the moffusil women, who hardly get a chance to play in the capital and showcase their talent

It is understood that the tournament will be open to women above the age of 15. Shivamogga Zone will provide free boarding and lodging facilities to the participating zonal teams and will request that the KSCA provide travel allowances for them.

It is also learnt that Shivamogga Zone has gone one step further and has already prepared its team for the big event.

If this event takes place, it is sure to provide a wonderful platform for the talented moffusil women cricketers to showcase their abundant talent and will write a new chapter in the history of state women’s cricket.
